Women Owned Wednesdays - Mariah

Welcome to Women Owned Wednesdays!

In celebration of National Women's Month, we're highlighting the incredible women who make up the heart and soul of our company.

Today, we're thrilled to introduce you to CI’s Lead Investigator Trainee, Mariah Hoffman!

Mariah has been with CI for 3 years, and is an integral part of our client service and verification teams’ day-to-day operations and success.

Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work. Any hobbies or interests that you're passionate about?

My hobbies include Zumba, film/video editing, reading (my favorite book is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah), and watching anything The Bachelor franchise decides to put out.

I will never turn down a walk at the park or a night in with my fiancé and our cat, aka prized possession, Tuna.

I also recently started volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, and it has been an amazing experience so far!

How did you become a part of Commercial Investigations? What drew you to the company?

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2020 from SUNY Purchase College, and about a year later, I moved to the Capital Region.

I was looking for work while exploring the option of going to graduate school, when I stumbled upon Commercial Investigations. I thought the work seemed interesting and relative to what I was looking to do with my career, and I found it very intriguing as I didn’t know it was a job people did! I decided to apply and still remember the day I had a phone call with Michelle when she decided to give me a call and take a chance on me. I never pick up numbers I don’t know, and for some reason, that day I did!

What is your favorite work snack?

A mid-day, home stretch, granola bar.

If your job had a theme song, what would it be?

Private Eyes by Hall & Oates or 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton.

As we celebrate Women Owned Wednesday, what does working in a women-owned company mean to you personally?

To me, working for a women-owned business, as well as with a team of women leaders, creates a healthy workplace with more collaboration and an all around positive environment. I have always felt that I can be outspoken and my true self without fear of judgment.

Working for a women-owned company has opened up a lot of opportunities for me and has allowed me to grow, both in this company and personally. I have always experienced support and empathy in my decisions and have been given the tools to succeed.
