Guardian’s Travels: Clean Slate Puzzle

Guardian was soaring over downtown Albany when they heard raised voices coming from Smith & Partners Law Firm.

“With Clean Slate coming into effect, how are we supposed to make safe hiring decisions?” worried Tom, the hiring manager. “It feels like we’re flying blind!” That was all Guardian needed to hear before swooping down to help.

“Did someone mention Clean Slate?” Guardian asked, landing gracefully. “My friends at CIChecked can help you navigate these changes.”

“What in the world?!” Tom jumped back, startled.

“But yes, we’re struggling with the new Clean Slate Act. How can we maintain workplace safety when certain records will be sealed?”

“Guardian is the name, protecting employers through changing times is my game. Tell me, what’s your current screening process?”

Tom sighed heavily, “Standard criminal background checks, reference calls, education verification. But with Clean Slate coming, we’re worried about missing crucial information.”

“Ah,” Guardian nodded wisely, “CI has developed comprehensive solutions for the Clean Slate era. While certain records will be sealed, there are still many effective screening tools available.”

Guardian spread their wings dramatically and continued, “For instance, enhanced reference verification processes can provide deeper insights into a candidate’s work history and character. Plus, implementing continuous monitoring can alert you to new incidents that occur after hiring.”

“But what about—” Tom started.

“And,” Guardian interrupted with a knowing smile, “CI’s proprietary screening solutions are specifically designed to work within Clean Slate’s parameters while still providing the most thorough background information legally available.”

Tom leaned forward, his worry lines easing. “That actually makes me feel better. I was afraid Clean Slate would leave us completely in the dark.”

“Remember,” Guardian added, “Clean Slate doesn’t seal everything. Sex offenses, serious felonies, and certain other records remain accessible. CI can help you understand exactly what you can and can’t consider.”

“This is incredibly helpful!” Tom exclaimed. “I’ll contact CIChecked right away to update our screening process as Clean Slate takes effect.”

Satisfied with another successful intervention, Guardian prepared to take flight. Just before leaving, they turned back to Tom. “Sometimes change seems scary, but with the right partner, you can turn challenges into opportunities for better hiring practices.”

As Guardian soared into the night sky, they smiled, knowing that somewhere below, another employer was better prepared for the Clean Slate era. After all, the best way to face change is with knowledge and the right tools at your disposal.
